With our customized software, we’ll show you graphically the relationship between your gait and your shoe mechanics – that is, the way you and your body move, and how that interacts with your footwear.

From front, back, and side our precisely positioned video cameras will record you walking or running on a treadmill. The frame-by-frame video helps us make a more precise assessment and thus build a better orthotic specifically suited to you. We also archive your video file so that we can compare changes in your biomechanics over time.
Stance and gait are what are called “closed kinetic chain” activities. In other words, your feet are in contact with a solid surface and not free to move around. What this means biomechanically is that alignment issues can be caused by the feet (bottom-up), from the joint and/or muscle characteristics of the pelvic girdle (top-down), or a mix of both. This is why we look at how your whole body moves, not just at the bottoms of your feet. Many times we will identify muscle imbalances that need to be addressed in addition to any correction of the foot position. In this case we can burn instructions and demonstrations of the appropriate exercises onto a DVD for you, or in more serious cases refer you to other health care professionals.
