Testimonials

Through the years, I have tried many different kinds of treatment for my sore knees and back as well as to treat cramping in my arches. Physio, massage and other orthotics had helped somewhat but I continued to have problems. Being a basketball player and runner, it was important to me to be free of pain and discomfort both during and after my activities.

I had had orthotics in the past but they never seemed to fit my foot properly. They had been taken from a computer scan of my foot but the product hadn't really solved any of my problems.

The Ottawa Orthotic Lab took the time to really understand my needs. They were the only professionals that carefully examined not only my feet but also my entire walking and running pattern on a treadmill. This helped me understand my own body's functions and helped me believe in what they were doing.

Thank you OOL!

As soon as I walked into the Ottawa Orthotic Lab office, I saw countless signed photos from a variety of athletes thanking the lab for helping them. Right away I knew I was at the right place!

At the age of 28, I had already been to xxxxxx and was wearing custom orthotics for over two years; I felt about a 30% improvement (which was better than nothing) and believed that that was the most I could get out of orthotics always had knee problems and even walking was so painful for me! I was constantly at the chiropractor’s and massage therapist for relief of knee, leg, hip and back pain, which got worse with every step; exercise was unbearable.

At my first appointment, Matt put me on a treadmill to see what exactly was going on when I walked (computer video gait analysis).Despite wearing my special orthotics and running shoes, I had a severe pronation problem when walking. I was shocked!

Based on this assessment, a strong motion-control shoe was recommended (the staff is very knowledgeable in what shores are out there), which I went out to buy. They reassessed me and, right away, I was 90% improved! It was so shocking to learn that my biggest problem all along was wearing the wrong shoes!

Despite this vast improvement, I wanted to be 100%, so the lab made me some custom orthotics which were a huge improvement over those I had previously been wearing and since adding them to my new shoes, I’ve never felt better! My pain is completely gone!

Matt is everything you want in a practitioner: he takes the time to explain everything to you; every appointment I had with him was both punctual and relaxed; and best of all, my problems and suffering are gone! Thank you Ottawa Orthotic Lab –you are top notch!

Telling me it was a great way for us to spend more “couple time” together, my husband convinced me to run a marathon with him. I did like most new runners and went to a reputable store to get outfitted in all of the appropriate gear. This included having them fit me with proper running shoes.

Life and training was good as we clocked on the miles, but about 2 months into the heavier training, I started to have a lot of pain in my hips. After following my Doctors suggestion to be checked for orthotics, they confirmed that I was neutral and was wearing the proper shoes that the store had sold me. Unfortunately with every run, the pain continued to get worse until the only option left was to stop running or have cortisone injections into my hips.

Two days prior to the scheduled injection, a running partner of mine told me about Mathew and Ottawa Orthotics Lab. She not only insisted that I go and see Mathew, she called and made the appointment for me. What a shock I had to be videoed running and to see that I pronated so much that my body would cave in as I ran. This seemed unreal since two other reputable sources had insisted that I was a neutral runner. Mathew had me change running shoes and gave me orthotics.

Leading up to this, I had been in so much pain, that I had stopped running. With my new running shoes and orthotics, my first run was 17km – pain free (except for the blisters – from not taking the time to break them in) Since receiving my orthotics, I have been able to run without any discomfort and most importantly, I didn’t have to have the cortisone injections. And on November 6, 2005 I completed the New York City Marathon. - pain free with a big smile on my face.
